BREAD is my thing ... and Cakes might be too!!!

I love love love to bake bread. :D Here is a picture of my famous German Braids that my mother taught me to make and here is a pic of the cake I made for Baylee's 1st Birthday!!! :D For some reason I can't find to Ayden's tractor cake pic. I will have to look. Sorry about the bad cell phone pic of the cake. More cake pics to come in the near future! Oh and if you hadn't noticed... I am kinda picture happy. Another thing I like to do. :D

what a week....

Well it has just been one of those weeks. We had huge plans for this weekend. However, they are not going to happen for me. My hubby will be on his own out of town to a family event. :( Ayden is pretty darn sick. We really debated on making an ER visit last night. Thankfully I have experienced this pneumonia stuff myself and with my kids on several occasions. He seems to have the worst of times at night. He goes from no fever to a fever of 102.4 and his eyes swell and he has nasty green goop coming out of his tear ducts and his breathing becomes rapid. Thanks to a dose of Motrin and then an hour and a half later a dose of Tylenol and a breathing treatment his breathing slows down to an ok rate. :( I just hate it when my babies are sick.

Onto a different note, my sweet baby girl MacKenzie has gotten in trouble at school this week twice for throwing food. Sometimes I think maybe we should home school, but then I think of how my kids will miss out on sports and those things. That's the battle going on in my brain at the moment.

SO today was a half day of school. This means MacKenzie was home for lunch. We had our brats that we made when we butchered a couple weeks ago and we had steamed veggies. :(Sadly they weren't frozen from our garden as we didn't have one last year. Oh well! I am planning a large garden this year to make up for last year. :D YAY!!!!!!!!!!! Well thankfully its nap time and just maybe I'll get a few things done around this house. OCD cleaning here I come. I'm not afraid to admit it. :D

P.S. these pics are from a couple nights ago, not last night. He looks much better in these pics than he did last night.

IVIg therapy... sub q treatment with vivaglobin

Miss MacKenzie Grace was 2 1/2 when she was diagnosed and we started treatment in March of 2006. We did this every week til February of 2007. We rotated between her two thighs and her tummy as our injection sights. I don't think I have any pictures of the goose-eggs that were left once the treatment was done. They generally lasted about 24 hours while her body absorbed vivaglobin.

As you can see now she is a normal little 6 yr old. :D She still has problems getting sick often and having a hard time fighting things, but she does sooooooooooo much better now than before the therapy.

These are my babies....

These are my babies.... MacKenzie is 6, Ayden is 2 and Baylee Ann is 1. They are all so different yet so alike in many ways. One big way that they are alike is that the oldest two have Antibody Deficiencies. The youngest is showing some signs as well and will be tested at age 2. Here is some information on antibody deficiencies. http://www.info4pi.org/aboutPI/index.cfm?Section=aboutPI&content=faq&CFID=37035138&CFTOKEN=89940892#494

MacKenzie did a treatment similar to ivig. She did the sub q treatment. This way we could do it at home avoiding the hospital and iv's. Ayden has had several shots to boost his. He has been fighting a sinus infection and yesterday it turned into a bad case of bronchitis, borderline pneumonia. Please pray for him and the rest of our family. Baylee currently has a sinus infection. We are in hopes that with antibiotics she will not get the nasty stuff Ayden has. With antibiotics come yeast infections for my kids. I feed them organic yogurt, however I am having a very hard time finding the organic soy yogurt for Baylee who is lactose intolerant. If you have any suggestions as to where I could find it please let me know. I tried the three grocery stores near me and none of them had it. We use the Stoneyfield Farm brand. Yo baby and Yo Soy yogurts.

As far as my weight loss goes. It's a slow slow process. Last night we had spaghetti. Made with lots of veggies in the sauce. My kids devoured it. Tonight I think I will turn the leftover into baked spaghetti and add a few more veggies. Now all I need to do is talk my hubby into eating it with wheat noodles. What is on your menu for dinner tonight?

a few days late but thats ok...

This was the scene at our house on Valentine's Day!!!! Since Valentine's fell on a Sunday we got to hang out around the house and snuggle and nap all afternoon. Well until my hubby decided to get up and go get some firewood from the farm that he split on Saturday.

It has somewhat turned into a regular event at our house that on Sunday evenings we have Waffles and sausage or bacon for dinner. It has become quite the hit. This is the waffle recipe that I have been using. I am thinking about substituting 1 cup whole wheat flour for 1 cup of the all purpose flour. I am not sure how that will work but it is worth a try. If you or someone you know has an awesome whole wheat waffle mix please share!!! :D

2 eggs
2 cups all purpose flour
1 3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 Tbsp white sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat waffle iron. Beat eggs in a large bowl with a whisk until light and fluffy. Beat in flour, milk, oil, sugar, baking powder, salt and vanilla just until smooth. Spray waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray. Pour mix onto hot iron and cook until golden brown.

Hawaiian Ham Dip ~ Naughty but Oh so Yummy!

Hawaiian Ham Dip ... It is a huge hit around here. Seems like every time we have people over or go somewhere people always want this. So here ya go this is the recipe and the picture is of the dip before I baked it. :D I hope you enjoy.

1 cup chopped ham
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup chopped green onion (you can use a 1/4 if you aren't a big onion fan)
1 bag Hawaiian bread
2 cup cheese
1 (6oz.) package cream cheese
2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce

Preheat over to 350 degrees. Hollow out the Hawaiian bread. Mix together all remaining ingredients and spoon into the center of the bread. Now cover well with foil. Bake for 1 hour. Serve warm with crackers and/or the bread that you previously removed.
